Exhibition of capuchin life -Pamplona-

EXHIBITION OF CAPUCHIN LIFE (PAMPLONA) )

The exhibition aims to safeguard and display a number of objects related to the life of the Capuchin Order in its province of Navarre-Cantabria-Aragon. It mainly covers two areas of the Order's activities.

The first shows its missionary work through documents and ethnographic pieces from a number of countries in Africa, America and the archipelagos of Oceania, and the second illustrates its presence in the religious province that includes Navarre, focusing on the study of the most historic convents.

Other sections describe the figure of Padre Esteban de Adoáin and reflect the life of some Capuchins that society has distinguished for their merits.

The exhibition is set in context with works by renowned Navarrese painters and sculptors (Ciga, Sacristán, Basiano, Pérez Torres, Oteiza…) who have portrayed members of the Order. The Penance Chapel of the church of this convent contains a Baroque carving of the Crucificado de Alonso Cano (made between 1656-1658), considered one of the most exceptional Spanish sculptures.
