The Roman city of Andelos

The Roman city of Andelos

Museo de Andelos, interior

There is an on-site Archaeological Museum covering 400 m2, organised into two areas: a service wing and a museum. There is a gallery between the two that provides access to the Roman city, with a completely fenced in perimeter.

The Museum has a large showcase to display the materials found in the digging. There are information panels that explain (among other things) the water cycle and way Andelos was planned. The exhibition is rounded off by a large scale model of the city and the surrounding area.

The most important and exceptional discovery in Andelos is its water supply system. It covers from the point of intake of water to the centre where it is distributed around the city, and consists of a dam, storage tanks, an aqueduct and the Castellum Aquae.

Address: 31150 Mendigorría, next to the chapel of Our Lady of Andión
