Estella, the venue for the Medieval Studies Week.

The next Medieval Studies Week will be the 35th such seminar that has taken place in Estella, dealing with every type of subject connected with medieval life in Europe.

The Medieval Studies Week of Estella is considered to be one of the most important scientific seminars of its type in the world, along with the one in Spoleto (Italy), and every year it attracts highly distinguished scientists and historians to address the subjects proposed by the committee. Its Headquarters are located in the Palace of the Kings of Navarre in Estella (Gustavo de Maeztu Museum).

Each year, as a fundamental part of its activity, the Minutes of the seminar are recorded. These can be found in the Publications' Collection of the Government of Navarre.

The Medieval Studies Week began in 1963 under the scientific direction of the historian José María Lacarra and the patronage of the Association for the Friends of the Pilgrim’s Way to Santiago de Compostela, which was set up by the writer and historian Francisco Beruete.
