In the fourth quarter of 2007, the number of active individuals amounts to 303.500, which represents 60,31% of the total population over the age of 16. Those employed add up to 290.600, of which 168.100 are men and 122.500 women, with an activity rate of 69,96% and 50,79% respectively. The rate of unemployment stands at 4,27% as opposed to 7,57% in Spain as a whole. They are data of the new Active Population Survey, influenced by the change of statistical system and the extension of the number of people of the sample, among them the immigrants.
