A physical and human mosaic

Robledal de Orgi

The forest of Orgi, in the Ulzama hills, 23 kilometres outside Pamplona.

In view of its strategic position at the extreme western end of the Pyrenees, on the border with France and straddling an important part of the Way of Santiago, of its cultural and higher education infrastructure, of its vast potential in terms of landscapes, monuments, ethnography, festivals and cuisine, Navarre provides visitors with a complex unit consisting of a physical and human mosaic, with a sum of contrasts that enrich the human, cultural and natural disposition of this land.

In just over 100 kilometres, one can travel from the alpine scenery of the Pyrenean summits to the barren almost lunar landscape of the Bardenas Reales, a World Biosphere Reserve and spectacular natural setting for numerous film productions. From a tourist perspective, this entire wealth of heritage is geared towards a balanced and environmentally friendly exploitation, in which the criterion of quality prevails.

Navarra comprises four large tourist areas –the Pyrenees, Pamplona and environs, the Middle Area, and the Riverside Area– with a handful of smaller districts where visitors can watch birds, pick wild mushrooms, visit spots of environmental interest as well as lagoons and reservoirs, take a wellness or spa holiday, do winter sports, play golf, hike along greenways, follow the way of St James, get to know old Jewish quarters, sample wines, visit legendary caves, get away into the countryside, study, go sightseeing, experience local culture, taste typical food, go mountain biking, go fishing or hunting, enjoy the local fiestas and traditions, and go trekking.
