The spokesperson of the Government of Navarre is responsible for communicating the political and institutional work of the Government to the public. He/she is assisted in this daily task by the Communication Office, which reports to the Department whose head is the Spokesperson (currently, Institutional Relations). This office provides services in the area of communication of the Government.
Navarre Law 14/2004 on the Government and its President establishes that the President of the Government may appoint a Government Spokesperson, although this person need not necessarily be a regional minister. The spokesperson is an organ that assists and supports the Government and its members. If the post is not occupied by a regional minister, the spokesperson has the rank of Director-General, reporting directly to the President.
Law 14/2004 also establishes that -depending on the spokesperson- there will be an administrative unit called the 'Government Spokesperson's Office'.
