1987-1991 Legislature
The elections in 1987 recorded the highest level of participation of the first three ballots held, as 72.78% voted out of the 393,326 registered voters, whereby abstention fell to 27.22%. The results were as follows: PSN-PSOE 15 seats (78,338 votes), UPN 14 (69,311), HB 7 (38,111), CDS 4 (20,978) EA 4 (19,821), Unión Demócrata Federal-UDF 3 (17,648), AP 2 (11,903) and Euzkadiko Ezkerra-EE 1 (9,614).
